PROGRAM ASSOCIATE FOR EDUCATION: JOB DESCRIPTION

MINDPOP seeks a creative professional to provide direct support for the Education Director implementing programs and activities that increase student achievement and access to the arts and creative learning in Austin. 

About Us:

MINDPOP is a non-profit organization that designs and builds creative learning systems nationwide.  As the managing partner of Austin’s Creative Learning Initiative, we are responsible for the design and coordination of this collective impact effort with lead partners Austin ISD, the City of Austin and implementation partners from more than 200 arts organizations. MINDPOP offers consulting services nationally to communities interested in expanding creative learning system models in their own community.

Summary: 

The Program Associate for Education will be responsible for working with the Education Director to develop, edit, maintain, and facilitate curriculum modules, and manage Creative Learning Initiative materials and events, including support with event and professional development logistics.  Ideal candidates will have practical and theoretical knowledge of teaching and learning; strong educational writing and editing skills (both written and video); strong project management skills; experience teaching across multiple subject areas and grade bands; commitment and experience advancing equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, and a background in the arts.  

Specific job responsibilities:

  • Support with research and writing of education resources (e.g., professional development modules, instructional frameworks, and classroom-level resources)
  • Write copy and edit video for a variety of audiences including teachers, artists, and the public
  • Project manage MINDPOP educational events, including professional learning workshops
  • Facilitate professional learning workshops
  • Support the development of presentations and reports
  • Create surveys and track data for reporting purposes
  • Support online program development via the CANVAS platform
  • Coordinate with independent teaching artists and consultants
  • Travel to campuses and on occasion outside the metropolitan area
  • Assume other responsibilities as requested

Minimum qualifications:

  • College degree in Education or related field, OR 5+ years of equivalent work experience in the field of education
  • At least 3 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified (education, arts-education, arts-integration, collective impact systems, education non-profits).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the current public education landscape, including educational theories, overall district and campus standards of practice, and best practices in curriculum and instruction design and professional learning implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience performing the job responsibilities outlined above.
  • Highly proficient writing, editing, and presentation skills, including general presentation and video editing software (e.g., Canva, CANVAS, PowerPoint, Adobe)

Conditions of Employment:

  • In-person attendance at the MINDPOP office is required for this position.
  • Vaccines are requirement to work alongside MINDPOP staff in the office. Medically necessary exemptions may be considered.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • No or limited physical effort is required.
  • No or limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment or on campuses in the delivery of professional learning workshops.

Compensation:

  • Salary ranges between $40,000 - $44,000 based on qualifications and experience.
  • Health Insurance and 401K Benefits Provided.
